Dr. Robert Jochim
Hackensack, New Jersey Native | Dedicated Healer | Community Pillar
Meet Dr. Robert Jochim, a man with a journey that reflects dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to his community. Born and raised in Hackensack, New Jersey, he embarked on a remarkable path that has left an indelible mark on the Verde Valley and beyond.
After earning his degree with honors from Fairleigh Dickinson University and graduating magna cum laude from Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in 1966, Dr. Jochim’s journey took him to unexpected places. He selflessly served our country in the Public Health Service, stationed on the Apache Indian Reservation. Here, he not only provided medical care but also embraced the Apache culture by learning their language and becoming one of only five white men adopted into the Apache tribe.
Fueled by his commitment to service, Dr. Jochim returned to his roots and raised his five children in the Verde Valley. He discovered Cottonwood in the early 1970s and fell in love with the area. During his tenure at Marcus J Lawrence, now VVMC, he witnessed the valley’s transformation while providing essential medical care in its formative years.
With a heart dedicated to community and patients alike, Dr. Jochim is a highly trained OB/GYN and a board-certified family practice physician. His exceptional skill set allowed him to deliver over 12,000 babies in the Verde Valley, earning him a reputation that speaks volumes.
As a respected healer, he has retired from obstetrical medicine but remains an active practitioner in gynecology and family practice. Dr. Jochim’s ethos is encapsulated in his quote, “No matter your education, talents, wealth, or how amazing you think you are, how you treat people ultimately tells all. Integrity is everything.” – Dr. J
